13 Introduction to marquetry with Ruth Thompson

Learn the basics of working with veneers using both a scroll saw technique with an introduction to the use of a laser. Create decorative marquetry pieces, with a wide range of timber veneers. In this workshop participants will learn about commercial veneers and how to cut both straight and curved line repeating patterns to create interesting and beautiful effects. An easy way for you to add veneered patterns to your projects. 
Ruth Thompson had fulfilled a 20-year dream when she graduated from the Sturt School for Wood in 2015 giving her the opportunity to develop design thinking skills and learn new manufacturing techniques from pre-eminent practitioners. With a 35-year long teaching career, Ruth has had a long association with furniture making.
