14 Barstool made with hand tools with Evan Dunstone

For woodworkers who want to better understand the preparation and use of fundamental hand tools. The Beta stool, in Victorian Blackwood, is a stylish contemporary design that can be made using only hand tools. The course covers sharpening and tuning, sawing techniques, joinery geometry, finishing, gluing up strategies, ergonomics and seating design. Evan uses the various stages of making the Beta as the basis for a broader investigation of working techniques.
Evan Dunstone is a 2001 Churchill Fellow in contemporary chair design and manufacture and director of Dunstone Design, one of Australia’s leading houses of fine woodworking. Evan has taught at the Australian School of Fine Furniture and Sturt School for Wood amongst others.
