Sturt Summer School 2018 - General Information

THE SITE
Please note that the Frensham and Sturt site covers a large area and slopes gently up a hill from the town of Mittagong. There are a number of steps on the site and several classrooms at Frensham are on the first and second floors. There is no parking on the main Frensham site. Limited ground floor accommodation is available; please request this on your enrolment form if you wish to sleep downstairs.  
MINIMUM AGE 
Students must be 16 and over for all adult classes unless arranged otherwise with the individual tutor. The enrolment form for under 18s who are attending an adult class must be signed by a parent or guardian. Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult if they are living in residence during the Summer School.  
ENROLMENT
Enrolments for courses will be in the order of receipt of application as class sizes are limited. Enrolments must be accompanied by full payment and a completed enrolment form. Sturt does not accept responsibility for lost or misdirected enrolments. Sturt will normally issue an acknowledgement of your enrolment within 5 working days; should this not be the case, you must verify that we have received your application as soon as possible.
CANCELLATION AND PAYMENT
All payments are made through Sturt Shop and can be made online or in person by credit card, eftpos, cash, cheque or money order. You may also fax, post or email your enrolment. Sturt Shop is open seven days, 10.00am-5.00pm. Online enrolment is by credit card only; for cancellation, please contact Sturt Shop on 02 4860 2083.

Sturt reserves the right to cancel a class if minimum enrolments are not reached by 24 November 2017 or for circumstances beyond our control. Students will be offered placements in their 2nd or 3rd choice, or a refund of all fees. Students cancelling before 24 November will incur a $150 cancellation fee. No refunds of any course fee will be given for cancellations after 24 November 2017. Fees for accommodation, materials and meals will be fully refunded if cancelled before 17 December. No refunds for accommodation, materials or meals will be given for cancellations after 17 December 2017.

Late enrolments may be made up to the beginning of classes, where positions are available.
CLASS TIMES
There will be a welcome address in Clubbe Hall at 8.30am on the first day of the Summer School for all adult students. Classes begin at 9.00am each day. Daily class times are from 9.00am until 4.30pm. There is a one hour break for lunch. Classrooms may remain open until 8.00pm (in consultation with tutors) if students wish to continue working on their own. On the final afternoon, each workshop will be opened to allow other participants and their family and friends to see the finished artworks. 
Children’s classes run from 9.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday.
AFTER CLASS
There will be welcome drinks and a floor talk in Sturt Gallery on the first evening and presentations by tutors on most other days from 4.30pm to 6.15pm. These are an important part of the week and all students and tutors are encouraged to attend. A detailed program of these presentations and other events will be included in your registration package. 
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation is available for Summer School participants at Frensham, adjacent to Sturt. Accommodation is in boarding school rooms, i.e. single bed, cupboard, desk, lamp and wastepaper bin, heating but no air conditioning. All linen (sheets, towels, pillowslips) is provided. You are encouraged to bring your own blankets or doona. Blankets are available for those travelling by public transport if requested. Bedroom doors are not lockable. Some rooms have a lockable cupboard (a small padlock may be useful). There are facilities for washing, ironing and drying and access is available for a small fee to the school’s wireless network. 
Single or twin share rooms are available with shared bathrooms (separate male and female). Five nights from Tuesday evening to lunchtime Sunday: single $710 and twin share $620; four nights from lunch on Wednesday to lunchtime Sunday: single $560 and twin share $490. The cost of accommodation includes all meals and the Saturday night party.
Children under 12 pay $55 per night and this includes dinner, breakfast and lunch. Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult if they are living in residence during the Summer School.

LUNCHES FOR DAY STUDENTS
Tea and coffee is provided near each workshop. Lunches are available for day students from the Dining Room (a buffet of hot food, breads, salads, cold meat, tuna, cheese, fruit, tea & coffee) and must be ordered at the time of enrolment. Occasional dinners and breakfasts may also be ordered. 
FAREWELL PARTY
Day students are invited to join the final evening party (this is included in the accommodation package for residential students). This is an ideal opportunity to say goodbye to new friends, dress up to the theme (to be advised) and let your hair down after a full week of creativity and learning. The party will commence with champagne and canapés served outside on the lawn (weather permitting) and then dinner will be served in the Dining Room. Entertainment will follow.
REGISTRATION
All students must register before proceeding to their accommodation or their classroom.  Registration is between 4.00pm and 6.00pm on Tuesday 2 January or between 7.45am and 8.30am Wednesday 3 January in Clubbe Hall (Cnr Range Road and Waverley Parade) or Sturt Cottage. On Registration, each student will receive a folder with their classroom location and other necessary information.
